Cycletastic is calling on all volunteers repeat or new to come down to the bike shed and assist in repairing our donated cycles ready for sale. The winter months are the perfect opportunity for us to meet and work together uninterupted to get our bikes roadworthy.
The aims of the event is to try and introduce all volunteers to the workings of the bike shed; how to set up, where are the tools, where are the parts, what costs what, and how to pack down at the end of the day. All volunteers will also be shown safe working practices at the shed to ensure our clients and volunteers are kept safe.
Ideally we would like to build our core volunteers group to allow us to open more frequently with less demand on specific volunteers. A suggested time frame for volunteering would be between April and October around every 6 to 8 weeks. A timetable will be developed prior to the start of the season.
If you feel you could offer some of your time on weekends in 2012 we would love to meet you at this event.
This event will be partially structured so we would like all volunteers to arrive at the same time. It is not so important that you stay to the end but bear in mind all volunteers need to be aware how to close the shed and the more hands the quicker it takes to pack up so it would be must better to stay to the end.
In return for assistance all volunteers get free;
snacks, tea and coffee,
basic bike parts (ie cables, brake blocks, inner tubes any second hand spares),
First dibs on donated bikes and parts
Higher value parts and accessories at no more than cost price.
