11am Kilburn Tube Station estimated return by 6pm.

We did attempt to do this ride last month, but it rained so much we gave up and
went to a café in Queens Park.
We will try again this Saturday. Weather forecast looking good at the moment.
Here’s the details again:
Meet Kilburn Station 11:15 for a gentle 25 mile round trip mostly on minor roads
and towpaths.
We go out on one of the best back-street cycle routes through Islington and
Hackney (lots of “filtered permeability”), via cycle-friendly parks London
Fields and Victoria Park, and using part of the Regent’s Canal. The Lea Valley
towpath has been improved by the Olympic authorities, and is a wide, smooth
riding surface. We then find our way to Finsbury Park and take the old railway
route (a disused branch of the Northern Line) now known as Parkland Walk. This
has a fairly rough gravel surface, so very narrow-tyre bikes are not
recommended. A sharp hill (we can walk) then leads to Highgate, and we then
cycle across Hampstead Heath. We take in the atmosphere of Hampstead Village
before the fast downhill run back to Kilburn.
Lunch will be at a café, there is likely to be a tea stop as well, and the ride
will be suitable for all riders, including older children (it may be too tiring
for younger ones). We will hopefully be back by 6:00pm.
